25 Days of Christmas Day 14

The Christmas Story

As told by scriptures…….

Matthew 1: 18-19  18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ[a] took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed[b] to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit. 19 And her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to divorce her quietly.

Luke 2: ….10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

Birthday cake for Jesus!

Holidays are the perfect opportunity to create traditions. Whether they are from old or newfound traditions, both are a great way to leave legacies for all generations.

Our family is no different. One tradition that has been incorporated over the years is baking a birthday cake for Jesus. This particular tradition was started with my mother as a reminder to the real reason we celebrate Christmas. With the world making Christmas so commercialized, she believed that the children should always remember it is about Jesus.

From that belief came the first birthday cake for Jesus. I do have to say that the kids absolutely loved it. It is a blessing to see the younger children so enthusiastic about celebrating Jesus and reminding us to bake the cake. Their excitement as the cake is brought to the table is both joyous and contagious and it flows over as we sing Happy Birthday Jesus.
