Isn’t it amazing how the world can crush the spirit of a woman! We suddenly get placed in a certain category because of the choices that were made or our upbringing.
This same though process has not changed. As a matter of fact, it has been around since the Book of Genesis – The social class. The status or identity of women being conformed to the world rather than to what GOD says.
Let’s read Joel 2: 29 again. And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit. Did that verse sink into your head? Did you read inbetween the lines? God said that upon the handmaids he will pour out his spirit.
Let us explore the definition of a handmaid to get a clear idea. A handmaiden, handmaid or maidservant is a personal maid or female servant. Depending on culture or historical period, a handmaiden may be of slave status or may be simply an employee. However, the term handmaiden generally implies lowly status.
Isn’t that how the world or our own self-condemnation makes us feel – lowly, second class, worthless. Sometimes we allow our own choices to define who we are that we get so consumed by them it becomes impossible break out of that bubble.
Great news though! We no longer have to be conformed to what the world perceives! However, that thought process and identity change begins with YOU. My question to you is, “Will you accept what I am about to share?”
Despite your social class, shady past, or anything else, God has chosen YOU (the handmaid. What the world sees as worthless, GOD sees as valuable. He trusts you enough to share with you his spirit. He is saying, “Look, I see you in a way that is precious to me. I see you like no other sees you. I see you through my eyes and to me you are worthy.”
Wow! Isn’t that beautiful. It amazes me each time a woman gets this revelation. He sees what you are carrying – something valuable. Although you may feel that when people look at you, all they see is what they call “filth, trash, second class” you must realize they don’t have the eyes of our GOD!
Our Father is so good, and He loves You so much. Stop dwelling on the past. Stop dwelling on what could have been. Stop receiving what people think about you. Stop!
Start seeing yourself like our Father sees you – perfection! Despite what has happened, God said that he would pour out his spirit on the handmaid. To me that is more valuable than anything this world has to offer.
And he put the handmaids and their children foremost, and Leah and her children after, and Rachel and Joseph hindermost.
Six days thou shalt do thy work, and on the seventh day thou shalt rest: that thine ox and thine ass may rest, and the son of thy handmaid, and the stranger, may be refreshed.
Then she said, Let me find favour in thy sight, my lord; for that thou hast comforted me, and for that thou hast spoken friendly unto thine handmaid, though I be not like unto one of thine handmaidens.
